Nipawin is situated on the Saskatchewan River between
Tobin Lake and Codette Lake and at the junction of Highway #35
and #55. The lakes were created by the construction of the E.B. Campbell Hydro Dam and the Francois-Finlay Hydro Dam respectively.

Nipawin is an important rural service center in northeast Saskatchewan, with agriculture being the mainstay industry.

Tourism also plays a major role in the economy of the area with many outdoor activities and opportunities offered on a year round basis.

Tobin Lake and Codette Lake both boast some of the finest fishing points in North America.

The Nipawin Evergreen Center provides curling, golfing, and meeting facilities that are second to none. The new 18 hole golf course has quickly gained a reputation for its' scenic and challenging holes. Nipawin and District Regional Park is located on the river, 2 km from downtown Nipawin. The Park is the site for an International Walleye Tournament which attracts anglers from Canada and the northern U.S.A. The Park also provides over 100 modern campsites with showers, confectionery/coffee shop, boat rentals, and fishing tackle to accommodate the travelers needs. Hiking trails and a small farm animal zoo are attractions for adults and children alike. Nipawin and District Living Forestry Museum is a must to see, with many restored artifacts including an operational sawmill used by pioneers of the area.

Winter activities include downhill skiing at the Wapiti Valley
Regional Park located approximately 60 kms. from Nipawin, cross country ski trails in the Nipawin and District Regional Park, curling
at the Evergreen Center, and snowmobiling on groomed trails that take you through some of the most scenic countryside in northeast Saskatchewan.
