The Village of Mistatim is situated on Highway #3, 35 miles east
of Tisdale, 40 miles west of Hudson Bay, and 30 miles north of Greenwater
Lake Provincial Park. Agricultural land and forestry make this one
of the most beautiful areas of the province.
This community, with roots to the cordwood industry and farming,
has a pioneer spirit that makes it the friendly and industrious community
that it is today.
The Community is clean with facilities such as an all weather road,
churches, garage, natural gas, water and sewer, hotel, store, post
office, liquor vendor, and Wapiti Regional Library. The Golden Rods
Senior Citizen Center provides recreation activities for the older
generation of folks. The former school building has been converted
to a community centre with meeting rooms, gymnasium and kitchen facilities
that are available for rent.
The Mistatim Heritage Park offers the visitor camping, as well as
a glimpse of the history of the area. A children's playground provides
entertainment for the young children. A riding ring adjacent to the
park provides everyone the opportunity to participate in gymkana
events. The community is also very proud of the Centennial Arena
and Jubilee Park. These facilities provide year round sports activities.
Hunting - The forest surrounding Mistatim provides some of the best
moose, elk, and deer hunting in the province. Bird hunting for geese,
ducks, and upland game birds is also very good. Several outfitters
provide quality services for the hunting and fishing tourists.
Fishing - Greenwater Lake Provincial Park, located 30 miles south,
provides excellent walleye, northern pike, and yellow perch fishing.
There are also several other small lakes in the area that are stocked
Recreation - Hundreds of miles of groomed snowmobile trails
provide the winter snowmobile enthusiast with wonderful opportunities
to experience the abundant snowfall in a natural, unspoiled setting.
