Kinistin Saulteaux Nation
Zone 6

Kinistin Saulteaux Nation is a community located near Kipabiskau Lake. The community can be located on a provincial map as I.R.#91 and #91a.

This progressive community is named after the first leader, Chief Kinitin. The reserve was settled upon after the people had hunted and fished around the area. The people that live here have both Cree and Saulteaux heritage, however the languages that most people speak today are Saulteaux and English.

This friendly community of about 285 people also boasts a bison ranch. Approximately 140 female bison and 17 bulls can be found in our large pasture. In the spring tiny calves can be found under the close watch of their mothers.

In 1994 a Nursery to Grade 6 School was opened in the community where students are able to receive an education which follows the provincial curriculum and also incorporates Saulteaux traditions and values. And in September of 1998 a new high school was officially opened.

A traditional Indian Dance Group is one of the results of having our own school of which we are so proud. The dance group has been involved in the Circle of the Arts in Saskatoon, as well as Pow Wows and local festivities. The outfits for the group have been made by local talent as well.

A Ladies Club has developed an informal group, however, they do take orders to make tipi's and other leather products such as moccasins and gauntlets.

The office and clinic which are the hub of activities are located in the core area near the school and the community hall. The office hours are 8:30 to 4:30, Monday to Thursday and 8:30 to 4:00 Fridays (excluding holidays).
