The Town of Arborfield is located on Highway #23 north of Tisdale.
In 1910, the town requested that they be named Fairfield, but it
was rejected by the post office in Ottawa. Due to the fact that the
offer was received on Arbor Day, the Post Office asked if the residents
would accept Arborfield, which they did. As well, the
town may have been named for Arborfield England, the site of an engineering
museum.
In spite of the controversy, the town of Arborfield, a community
of 450, north of Tisdale is ideally located for tourism and hunting.
The beautiful forest has an abundance of game and the town is on
the edge of the Pasquia Hills. The town of Arborfield has many recreational
facilities from the hockey and curling rinks to a camp ground with
ball diamonds.
Only minutes from town is Pasquia Regional Park, with a full service
campground, heated swimming pool and a beautiful 9 hole course.
As well, the town has many community groups such as the Elks, the
Masons, the Legion, Women's Entrepreneurs and seniors groups.
As well, there is school for the children, from Kindergarten to
Grade 12.
The town of Arborfield celebrates Snowfest, a winter festival. Activities
include: horse drawn sleigh rides, a funspiel at the curling rink,
a log sawing event, nail pounding event, and the crowning of
a Snowfest King and Queen. Arborfield has a full range of businesses,
including banks, grocery stores, town offices, car
wash and a gas bar.
