To Create a Facebook Page
or YouTube Video
To create a new Facebook page, there are many places to look for help.
There is a “Quick-Start Guide” at: http://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=68842278095
There is a printable manual at:

Go to www.facebook.com
You will have to create a profile then walk through the set-up.
If you want to create a “Community Page”, give it a name that people can easily locate... for example, if someone is trying to do a search for your group, if you name it the “Melfort Playground Group”, it is easier to find than “Jump For Joy Group” which does not identify where you are or what you are doing.
If you do a search for “how to” create a facebook page, there are other websites that help with the process as well. (I.e. http://www.ehow.com/how_6745818_set-up-facebook.html)

Windows Movie Maker (we have a sample YBEX 2011 video uploaded you can see for an example. Click on camera.)
Not sure how to create a movie with “still” photos?
There are various programs available but a simple one that probably came with your Windows based computer is “Windows Movie Maker”
- Open the program.
- Go to File and choose “Import into collections”
- Choose the folder you have your pictures in. To bring in just one photo, click on it. To bring all the photos in the folder, highlight them all. To bring some of the photos from a folder in, ctrl and click on all the photos you want.
- The photos will show in the top half of Windows Movie Maker, Just click on the photos and drag them down to the video row on the storyboard. You can click on the right hand side of a photo and drag it wider for a longer timeline. The default is 5 seconds so if you want it on the screen for 10 seconds, just drag the right side to 10 seconds.
You can create a Narrative on the Audio/Music line
- by clicking on Tools and choosing “Narrative Timeline”. This is where you record the voice over for the photos.
- You may want to drag a photo to a size that is very wide then do the narrative for that photo, then adjust the photo to the length of the narrative.
Save your project.
Under "File", choose Save Movie File
Upload to YouTube.
Picasa3 - Another option is to download the free program by Google and create a slideshow movie to upload to YouTube. Go to picaso.google.com and click the download. There are some helpful movies on YouTube to show how to use the program. Just do a search and you will get videos like:
“Introducing Picasa 3” by Google 5:03 mins
“How to Make a Picasa Movie”
“Make a Movie Slideshow in Picasa3”
We did our "3 Minute Movie" [top right] in Picasa3. We used the "Narrative" capabilities of Windows Movie Maker to create the sound to go with the movie.
